Northern

The Northern Governorate (Arabic: المحافظة الشمالية; transliterated: al-Muhafazah ash-Shamaliyah) is one of the five governorates of Bahrain. It includes parts of the municipalities of Al Mintaqah al Gharbiyah, Al Mintaqah al Wusta, Al Mintaqah al Shamaliyah, Jidd Haffs and Madinat Hamad.

Al Mintaqah al Gharbiyah (Arabic: المنطقة الغربية) (Western region) was a municipality of Bahrain in the western part of the country. Its territory is now in the Northern and Southern Governorates. 

Al Mintaqah al Wusta (Arabic: المنطقة الوسطى) (Central region) was a municipality of Bahrain in the northern part of the country. Its territory is now in the Central and Northern Governorates.

Al Mintaqah al Shamaliyah (Arabic: المنطقة الشمالية) (Northern region) was a municipality of Bahrain in the northern part of the country. Its territory is now in the Northern Governorate. And there was many villages there such as Karrana. 

Jidd Haffs (Arabic: جد حفص) is a city in northern Bahrain. It was a municipality of Bahrain in the northern part of the country. Its territory is now in the Capital and Northern Governorates.

Madinat Hamad (Arabic: مدينة حمد) is a city in northern Bahrain. It was a municipality of Bahrain in the central part of the country. It was split off of the municipality of Ar Rifa' wa al Mintaqah al Janubiyah in 1991. Its territory is now in the Northern Governorate.
