The county has around 20,000 employees working in more than 160 institutions located all over Funen.
Coat-of-arms
For common daily usage a more modern and IT-friendly version is used. This version consists of three white hop leaves on a green background, where the leaves are much less detailed. Alternate versions have a red or, occasionally, a black background.
The coat-of-arms was registered in 1976.

Municipal reform in 2006/2007
On 1 January 2007, The Danish Municipal Reform will replace the traditional counties with five new regions and cut the number of municipalities to 98. Funen county will be included in the new Region Syddanmark (Region South Denmark). The 32 municipalities within
