Võru County
Võru County (Estonian: Võru maakond, Võro: Võro maakund), or Võrumaa, is one of 15 counties of Estonia. It is situated in south-eastern part of the country and borders Russia to the east, Latvia to the south, Valga County to the west, and Põlva County to the north.
County Government
The County Government (Estonian: Maavalitsus) is led by Governor (Estonian: maavanem), who is appointed by the Government of Estonia for a term of five years. Since 2005 the Governor position is taken by Ülo Tulik.
Municipalities
The county is subdivided into municipalities. There is 1 urban municipality (Estonian: linn - town) and 12 rural municipalities (Estonian: vallad - communes) in Võru County.
